Join us at the VBMA for Summer Art Camp! This summer, campers will explore a variety of artmaking techniques, materials, and movements. Classes are grouped by age, for children 5 through 16 years old, and all supplies are included in a wide variety of media. This year’s summer museum exhibition is Rock ‘N’ Roll Billboards of the Sunset Strip: Photographs by Robert Landau. Through exploration of the galleries and weekly themed classes, campers will have the opportunity to learn about the impact of music and storytelling on the modern world. At the end of each week, campers’ artworks are proudly displayed in the Eggert Children’s Gallery and the Patricia M. Patten Community Gallery. Every Friday, families are invited to walk the gallery and collect their children’s beautiful artworks to take home.

Online: Each morning and afternoon session and optional lunch requires a separate registration for each child.
Daily Schedule
Classes take place Monday – Friday at the Vero Beach Museum of Art
Morning Sessions (AM): 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Afternoon Sessions (PM): 1:00 – 4:00 pm
Optional Supervised Lunch (Pack a lunch): 12:00 – 1:00 pm

Faculty
All Summer Art Camp faculty are professional art educators who have extensive experience working with children in informal and formal learning environments.
Cost
Each week-long class is $115 for VBMA Members and $135 for non-members. ALL SUPPLIES ARE INCLUDED! Holiday weeks are $95 for VBMA members and $110 for non-members. Wheel-Thrown Ceramics (two week class) is $230 for VBMA members and $270 for Non members. Optional supervised lunch (Pack a lunch) is $40 per week.

What to Wear
Your child will be in a studio-based, art-making camp setting. Please remember to dress for mess!
Snacks
Campers take daily snack breaks, so be sure to pack a healthy drink and snack as well.
Supervised Lunch
For those who would like their camper to stay for lunch, supervised lunch care is available from 12 – 1 pm. Cost is $40 per camper per week. Lunch is not provided, so be sure to pack one.
Absences
We reserve space for each child exclusively during the registered week(s). Make-up classes are not offered.
Cancellation Policy
The Vero Beach Museum of Art reserves the right to cancel any session if enrollment isn’t sufficient. In this case, we will offer a similar class for your child or refund any tuition paid in full.
Refund Policy
If your child will not be attending any registered session, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer the space to another child.You will be issued a refund of tuition, minus a $25 processing fee if you request a refund at least two weeks prior to the beginning of the session. No refunds will be issued during the two weeks prior to each class.
YOUNG ARTIST INTENSIVES
Explore The Artist Within! These summer classes are for the student looking for a mini-course in the creative possibilities of a particular artistic medium. Campers will build their skills and artist’s portfolio each day in a real studio environment.

Does your camper like things that go fast? This week campers will use the cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles from the VBMA’s exhibition as inspiration for their transportation-based artworks.

Basics of Acrylic Painting
Exploring the basics of how to create a painting, students will learn about layout, transferring images, and blending colors.They will concentrate on drawing, composition, and the importance of lights and darks.

Learn to throw on the wheel the easy way! Make bowls or mugs with simple techniques. No clay experience necessary.

How does blue make you feel? What about red or yellow? Campers will experiment with a wide variety of mediums while they learn about this important element of art.They will learn how to make new colors, how to convey meaning through color, and even more!

Watercolor Techniques

Week 8 | I LOVE ROCK AND ROLL! | July 22 - 26
Rock and Roll is known to have origins in country music and utilizes poetry, rhythm, and blues. Instructors will use the boldness of the Rock and Roll movement to inspire creative thinking and risk taking in the artwork of their campers.

Advanced Painting Techniques
Students who have taken Painting 101 will enjoy this advanced course. They will continue to work on basic techniques for transferring images onto canvas and the painting techniques they learned previously, then continuing on with advanced techniques and composition.

Abstract Art
Campers will learn the styles of abstract art, such as non-objective, cubism, and expressionism. They will try drip painting, geometric and organic shapes in collages, mixed media, and three-dimensional projects.
