Summer Art Camp 2025

Faculty
All Summer Art Camp faculty are professional art educators who have extensive experience working with children in informal and formal learning environments.

Daily Schedule
Sessions take place Monday – Friday at the Vero Beach Museum of Art

Morning Sessions (AM): 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Afternoon Sessions (PM): 1  – 4 p.m.
Optional Supervised Lunch (Pack a lunch): 12 – 1 p.m.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Times

AM Drop-Off: 9 a.m.
AM Pick-Up: 12 p.m.

PM Drop-Off: 1 p.m.
PM Pick-Up: 4 p.m.

Cost
Each week-long session is $115 for VBMA Members and $135 for non-members unless otherwise noted (ALL SUPPLIES ARE INCLUDED!).
Optional supervised lunch (Pack a lunch) is $40 per week.

What to Wear
Your child will be in a studio-based, art-making camp setting. Please remember to dress for mess!

Snacks
Campers take daily snack breaks, so be sure to pack a healthy drink and snack as well. There will be no vending machine available.

Supervised Lunch
For those who would like their camper to stay for lunch, supervised lunch care is available from 12 – 1 pm. Cost is $40 per camper per week. Lunch is not provided, so be sure to pack one.

Absences
We reserve space for each child exclusively during the registered week(s). Tuition payments are final. Make-up sessions are not offered.

Cancellation Policy
The Vero Beach Museum of Art reserves the right to cancel any session if enrollment isn’t sufficient. In this case, we will offer a similar session for your child or refund any tuition paid in full.

Refund Policy
If your child will not be attending any registered session, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer the space to another child. You will be issued a refund of tuition, minus a $25 processing fee if you request a refund at least two weeks prior to the beginning of the session. No refunds will be issued during the two weeks prior to each session.

YOUNG ARTIST INTENSIVES
Explore The Artist Within! These summer classes are for the student looking for a mini-course in the creative possibilities of a particular artistic medium. Campers will build their skills and artist’s portfolio each day in a real studio environment.

This week will give campers a bright start to Summer as they explore the brilliance of light through the lens of Impressionism. Campers will experiment with radiant hues, translucent materials, and shimmering effects to create luminous projects.

Painting: Bold Brushstrokes
This class for all levels introduces artists to a variety of painting techniques and mindful attitudes that foster confidence, experimentation, and positive self-talk through a quest for a color palette that brings them joy. Artists will unleash their power in every brush stroke and paint beyond any doubts or perceived limits.

Advanced Painting Techniques: Paint Like an Impressionist

Step into the lush, dreamlike worlds of Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Claude Monet this week. Campers will explore how to create soft, atmospheric scenes that evoke a sense of warmth and beauty as they learn to blend, layer, and create soft transitions between light and dark.

Campers will learn to shape functional pottery as well as imaginative art pieces in this class that teaches hand building, wheel throwing, and glazing techniques. No clay experience necessary!

Campers will move into the 3-D world of sculpture this week influenced by Auguste Rodin’s and Edgar Degas’ masterpieces. On an expedition to find their favorite molding materials, they will experiment with a variety of malleable materials, 3-D shapes, and modeling tools.

Join us for an exciting and experimental week that encourages innovation through combining various artistic techniques and materials. Artists will explore the many possibilities of mixing media—such as acrylics, watercolors, pastels, inks, collage, found objects, and more—into dynamic artwork.

In this fun class, campers will discover the smearing and smudging satisfaction of creating with pastels while honing their drawing and shading skills. Through exploring a variety of ways to blend and layer, they’ll bring to life energetic art pieces full of texture, depth, and gestural marks.

Artists will dip, dye, draw, and paint with natural inks made from plants, flowers, and herbs in this class celebrating nature’s diverse color palette. We will explore mark-making with a variety of tools. patterns, printing, and illustration on paper and fabric. Artists will even have the chance to make their own ink.
