Programs for Veterans Create Community of Creativity and Support
Exploring creativity is a vital goal of the free Veterans’ Program offered at the Vero Beach Museum of Art. Veterans draw inspiration from instructor-led gallery visits, then head to the studios to try their hand at a variety of artistic techniques. The classes have a critical side benefit: they create community for an important segment of our local residents seeking an outlet.
Vero Beach Museum of Art Adds Two Global Finance Leaders to its Board of Trustees
At its annual meeting, the Vero Beach Museum of Art’s Board of Trustees demonstrated its continued commitment to exemplary governance and long-term stewardship by welcoming new Trustee Alan Wilkinson, elected in March, and electing Kevin D. Willsey to the Board. Elected to serve for second three-year Board terms were Trustees Mary E. Blair, Lisa Bullock, Sherry Ann Dayton, Richard Frary, and Chair Richard D. Segal. Vice Chair James C. Penrose was renewed for a third three-year term.
VBMA Early Childhood Programs Build Critical Foundations for Creative Learning
For more than 40 years, the Vero Beach Museum of Art has positioned education at the forefront of its mission. Its engaging exhibitions, lectures, events, classes, workshops, and outreach programs are widely attended by Vero Beach and Indian River County residents.
Adapting Art: Fostering Creative Expression
Each week, a lively group of teens and young adults on the autism spectrum and those with other learning differences are welcomed to the Museum for VBMA’s free A+ART program.
Building with Nature in Mind
Drawing inspiration from the rich landscape of coastal Florida, the Vero Beach Museum of Art’s new building is conceived as a series of earthen terraces and walled gardens, lifted above the Indian River Lagoon. From the start, Allied Works Founding Principal Architect Brad Cloepfil, AIA, described the building as “deeply rooted in its setting,” and envisioned “walls embedded with local sand and shells, warm colors, and light-filtering layers that define a space that could only belong on Florida’s Treasure Coast.”
VBMA Exhibiting Artist Jill Nathanson Returns Oct. 17 for ‘Abstract Painting: Past, Present, Personal’
The Vero Beach Museum of Art (VBMA) welcomes back exhibiting abstract artist Jill Nathanson October 17, 2026, for a workshop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. geared toward intermediate level artists. During ‘Abstract Painting: Past, Present, Personal’, Nathanson will guide registered students through techniques exploring abstraction through color, composition, and personal expression.
