The Vero Beach Museum of Art reopens on Saturday, October 19, with free admission for all through Sunday, October 27. In addition to exhibition exploration, each day offers activities for adults and children alike, and on October 25, when school is out for many Indian River County students, VBMA will present a family-friendly ‘Back in Action Bash!’ from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with activities for all ages throughout the Museum.

“Now that VBMA has reopened its doors, we want to offer our community a welcome respite from Hurricane Milton’s aftermath with an extended week of free admission to our galleries and sculpture parks,” said Brady Roberts, VBMA Executive Director. “Just before the storm, we opened the whimsical Roadside Reverie: Glass Works by John Miller. This exhibition will delight all ages, and we are proud to make this show and the entire museum experience freely available through the last weekend in October.”
At Roadside Reverie: Glass Works by John Miller—the artist’s largest solo museum exhibition to date—guests will delight in more than 40 larger-than-life glass sculptures—from oversized hamburgers to hood ornaments—spanning four of Miller’s artistic series: “Hot Stuff,” “The Blue Plate Special,” “Do Not Duplicate,” and “Classic Heat.” These works reflect his fascination with and personal connection to American automotive and food culture and the Pop Art movement of the 1960s.
Every day, kids and families can enjoy these activities:
- View works from the permanent collection and Roadside Reverie: Glass Works by John Miller
- Take a guided gallery tour with a museum docent (2 p.m. daily)
- Pick up a family guide for self-guided activities
- Get creative in the Art Zone with activities and toys that spark curiosity and support learning
Additionally, at the ‘Back in Action Bash!’ on October 25, guests can enjoy art-making activities in the Atrium, try their hand sketching in the galleries, and more.
The Wood ‘N’ Spoon Café is open for lunch Monday through Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We are excited about the reopening of the Vero Beach Museum of Art and proud of our continued partnership with them as we move forward after Hurricane Milton, “adds Ben Earman, vice president of tourism and Marketing for Visit Indian River County, “The resilience of our community has been truly inspiring, and it’s heartening to see everyone come together. We’re especially thrilled for visitors to experience one of the museum’s most playful exhibitions, Roadside Reverie, now on view. It’s a perfect example of the creativity and spirit that make this community so special.”
