Meet Artist John Miller and Experience the World of Glass Art Creation at the Opening Day Celebration of Roadside Reverie

The entire family is invited to the Vero Beach Museum of Art (VBMA) on Saturday, October 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for opening-day activities celebrating the new exhibition, Roadside Reverie: Glass Works by John Miller.

Marvel as the Duncan McClellan Gallery Mobile Hot Shop returns to VBMA—this time with artist John Miller. Guests of all ages will be in awe as molten materials transform into glass masterworks at live glassblowing demonstrations outside the Museum Art School. There will be opportunities to meet John Miller and other glass artists, explore their techniques, and watch as their creative energy fuels their designs.

After, take in the new exhibition Roadside Reverie: Glass Works by John Miller, and delight in more than 40 larger-than-life glass sculptures—from oversized hamburgers to hood ornaments—spanning four of Miller’s artistic series: “Hot Stuff,” “The Blue Plate Special,” “Do Not Duplicate,” and “Classic Heat.” These works reflect his fascination with and personal connection to American automotive and food culture and the Pop Art movement of the 1960s. Those interested in an in-depth discussion about the works and the artists can join Museum docents at 2 pm. for a guided gallery tour.

Feeling hungry? Dolly’s Table and Kona Ice food trucks will be on-site alongside outdoor café seating, in the Museum parking lot.

Roadside Reverie: Glass Works by John Miller, the artist’s largest solo museum exhibition to date, is organized by the Vero Beach Museum of Art. It is on view from October 5, 2024, through January 5, 2025.
