The entire family is welcome at the Vero Beach Museum of Art on Saturday, April 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Children’s Art Festival. The FREE, all-ages event, is the museum’s annual celebration of the arts and art making. Attendees will enjoy art projects in the studios, music and dance performances, food trucks, art hunts, docent-led tours of the galleries, and free admission to the museum’s galleries.

Families can engage with VBMA teaching artists in special art-making opportunities inspired by the French Moderns exhibit, including:

• Easy Easel Painting— After visiting the museum galleries, use acrylics, canvases, and easels to create a masterpiece with Vicki Marsango;
• Colorful Cut-out Creations— Explore bold shapes and bright colors to design a cut-paper composition inspired by Henri Matisse’s famous collage style with Sophia Strazinsky;
• Sail Away with Clay— Join the Regatta and sculpt a miniature sailboat using air-dry clay, inspired by Roul Dufy’s painting in the French Moderns exhibition with Karla Nester;
• Botanical Banners— Layer and blend colorful tissue paper to create a beautiful, garden-themed banner with Lauren Kennedy;
• Collective Monet Mural—Join fellow artists to recreate Monet’s Houses of Parliament! Design a small image to add to the collective creation using colored pencils and chalk pastels, led by Adam Conard.

VBMA docents will facilitate additional family-friendly activities and tours in the galleries. Multiple student art exhibitions will also be on view. The School District of Indian River County Student Art Exhibit will be on display in the Atrium, and the North County Charter Elementary Student Exhibition will be on view in the Eggert Gallery.

Guests will delight in live performances by local youth groups, including North County Charter Stingrays,
Honey High and Blue, Ocean Youth Orchestra, Rosewood Magnet Panther Performers, Vero Classical School, and Music Angels Fund.

Tasty meals, snacks, and refreshments will be available for purchase from Kona Ice and Saussie Pig.

Experience the joy of the Children’s Art Festival from behind the scenes by becoming a volunteer! We’re looking for enthusiastic teens who love art, enjoy working with children, and want to contribute to making this event a success. Inviting Student Performers!
We’re excited to invite student performance groups to take center stage at our Children’s Art Festival! If you lead or teach a school band, dance troupe, child theater group, or any other youth performance ensemble, this is a fantastic opportunity for your students to shine. Please complete our performer application form and return it to Public Programs Manager, Pamela Londono, at plondono@vbmuseum.org to secure a spot in our festival’s lineup. Your participation will bring joy and enrich the experience for all attendees.
