A+ ART Program

Description:

A+ART is a free, museum-based arts program that serves teens and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and with other special needs. The curriculum for A+ART follows a unique theme every week and includes, but is not limited to, looking at and discussing original artworks in the galleries, sketching, related art-making, group discussion, centering exercises, and group share time/celebrations at the end of every class.

A+ ART meets on Mondays from 3:00 to 5:00pm during the school year (scheduled to begin on September 30, 2024) in the Museum’s galleries and art studios. Seasonal A+ART workshops will be announced throughout the year.

Program Goals: A+ART provides students a welcoming environment within the Museum’s galleries and studios, allowing them access to the exhibition and collections, and offering creative art-making opportunities that support individual expression as well as positive group dynamics.
