Schumann and Stark Galleries will feature selections from the permanent collection dating from the mid-19th century to the present day. The galleries will particularly highlight the museum’s strengths in American 20th century art and global contemporary art. Favorites by Isabel Bishop, Harold Gregor, Kenneth Noland, John Sloan, and Jack Tworkov will be on view, in addition to new acquisitions by Waldo Peirce, Joseph Stella, and Marguerite Zorach. The display will also include works that are rarely on view, such as paintings by Patrick Archer, Pierre Daura, and René Portocarrero and sculpture by Paul Granlund and Louise Kruger. Themes covered will be portraiture, landscape, still life, and abstraction, among others.
