Howard Ben Tré: New Sculpture
January 24 – May 17, 2015
Howard Ben Tré: New Sculpture is an exhibition of stunning cast glass and bronze sculptures, including works from his recent “Lightness of Being” series. With sculpture represented in more than 85 museum and public collections, Ben Tré is a pioneer in the use of cast glass as a sculptural medium. His recent sculpture was inspired by traditional architectural forms of columns, spires, minarets and obelisks. At the same time, they can be seen as individual figures forming a related family group within a defined space. Each sculpture has a foot anchoring it firmly to the ground, a demarcated waist and a head that continues the upward movement of the form. As individual works, they speak to the connection between architectural forms and the creation of human communities.
